Resignation – Yvonne Thomas & Vida Boyd |
Yvonne Thomas and Vida Boyd have relocated and resigned from the Shoals SHRM board effective July 2019. Sherry Johnson & Tiffany Brown with SHRM and ALSHRM have been notified. Crystal Wilson was asked by Yvonne Thomas, President, to step into the President board member vacancy. The board voted to remove Yvonne Thomas from the Shoals Chapter SHRM CB&S Banking account. Each board member signed the form needed by the bank. |

Legislative Update – Kim LaFevor |
Fall Hill Visit – Kim presented the board with the agenda for the upcoming hill visit in September. Belinda Walker is taking the lead from Juanita Phillips. |

Student Affairs – Chapter Advisors |
Kim presented the board with an email to all ALSHRM State Student Chapter Advisors. Student interest in wanting to attend conferences is up. Kim asked the board if Shoals SHRM could sponsor a hotel room for college students wanting to attend. The board voted to sponsor one hotel room for ALERA Conference September 30 – October 2. Questions – Are the schools raising any money for this? Larger universities are having more difficulty with this. The universities are trying to subsidize. February SHRM Case Competition will be held at Athens State & the Regional Meeting will be held at UNA. Judges(professional HR people) are needed for HR Games. All of the local SHRMs will be asked to participate (NASHRM, TVC, Shoals SHRM) |

Student Affairs – Matt Oglesby |
Matt is working toward the following for the UNA student chapter: --Election of officers --Biweekly meetings on campus --HR networking luncheons --Company tours --Study Abroad --Students at February ALSHRM event --Students at each Shoals SHRM meeting --Student Chapter Logo and promotional materials Biggest Challenge – student turnover due to graduation. They can receive funding as a UNA RSO. Last year ended at 37 members and this year’s membership is starting out at 25. |

Christina Lewis presented the Income Statement for January 2019 – August 2019 Balance - $10,855.46 --Order new nametags in January -- SHRM Foundation Donation is due ($1000) |

Shoals Scholar Dollars 2020 |
Shoals Scholar Dollars 2020 - the past 2 years Shoals SHRM did not make it in the sponsorship flyer and only 2 members could attend. The Board voted to opt out of the $1,000 table sponsorship at the event and instead reduce the donation to $250 for Shoals Scholar Dollars. |

Questions – --Should we increase membership dues? --Are we spending more than we are taking in? --Should we include a question on the survey about dues increasing for next year? --Should there be a Tier Level to include one tier with only regular meetings, one tier with meetings and workshops and one tier with meetings, workshops and the UNA Conference? Membership Costs were discussed and the following was approved by the board: Membership – Increase from $40 to $50 Package Deal – Increase from $115 to $125 Guests will stay the same at $15.00 Members will stay the same at $12.00 Students will be $10.00 |

College Relations budget was discussed and approved by the board (Motion- Matt Oglesby, Second – Meghan Fike) UNA Student Chapter – Increase from $400 to $750 Athens State – Increase from $100 to $250 |

The board discussed and voted to accept Rob Hildreth and Jeff Ledbetter as new committee members. Christina Lewis made the motion to accept and Matt Oglesby seconded. |

UNA August Conference |
Conference participation was lower than normal this year. We had 37 attendees and normally we have 50-60. There were 5 paid sponsorships. Expenses: Paid Joe Turner $1000, paid Jim Owens $108.89 for hotel, paid Andrea Lewis $108.89 for hotel, Charles Farrior - no fee. Purchased 4 - $25 Gift cards for door prizes 3-$100 speakers checks for their travel and presentation Discussion --There were not a lot of SHRM members present --Once UNA moves into the Collins Building, it is possible that we could hold the conference there and possibly hold it during a different time of the year. |

SHRM deposit $343.75 for membership 2019 CFSP payments are calculated as follows: Chapter Financial Support Program (CFSP) 100% Chapters (paid quarterly)
$5.00 for each professional SHRM member primarily coded* to the chapter Current Chapter Members count is 54 for 2019. In 2018 the count was 70. Crystal did receive a membership at large list and has reached out to several that have been previous members and added them to the email list. **Membership retention was discussed Should we have smaller networks, mentors, social events?? |

UNA/SHRM Certification Study Group 2020 |
Is anyone interested in teaching certification classes next year? Each instructor must be SHRM Certified SHRM certification exam window is December 1, 2019-February 15, 2020 (must register between October 18, 2019 - November 9, 2019) **Jeff Ledbetter is interested |

Board Member Elections/Chapter Leader Information Form |
A Survey Monkey will be sent out to all members in October regarding board member elections. Chapter Leader Information Form (CLIF) is due December 1, 2019 or within a month after elections. Forms are found at SHRM.org, Volunteer Leader Resource Center (sometimes you have to use the search icon). The completed form provides SHRM with a list of the chapter's board members. |

Board Member Perks |
In the past, board members have been able to attend the ALSHRM conference at no cost. Discussion was held on ways that we could give back to our board members --Board members get membership free? --Discuss board member incentives at meetings? --Board members can attend UNA conference for free? --Spend the money that we are spending on the ALSHRM conference to secure better speakers? A motion was made to move the budget spent on the ALSHRM conference for board members to the local UNA Conference. Matt Oglesby made the motion and Allison Cole seconded. It carried. |
